I had this on my mind for about 20 years now... Back when I was a kid, my stepfather had just hooked up with my mother, i was about 12 years old... At his cottage he would lend us his Bayou 300. To make the long story short... His ex wife's younger brother who was about 17 would still come to visit him. One day my sister and I went for a ride on the Bayou and maybe 15 minutes after we where riding the quad stalled... so I started it back again and it rode maybe 30 seconds and it stalled again... I kept starting it over and over and it always stalled... So we pushed the quad on the edge of the dirt road and went back to the cottage on foot. We told my stepfather what happened and hopped in the truck back to the Quad... The oil dip stick cap was missing... So the oil sputtered out somehow and the motor had seized up. Then for some funny reason his ex wifes brother that was with us that time, found the oil dipstick when he went for a ride on the dirt bike... Could he had taken it off ???

That would be my bet. There's absolutely no way you can find a oil dipstick in the woods while riding. Prob wouldn't ever be able to find it while walking. And good luck getting one of them to come off in the first place..

You're asking us? lol Of course it's possible he took it off.. but he could have found it also. Especially if it was right in the middle of a decently-groomed trail.

You'll probably never know.
