ok guys i just rebuilt my top end about a month ago and after the hone that was the last time that i can rebuild without going bigger or re-sleeving. i have a couple of options here so help me out. I really need a new piston because mine gained some scarring on the skirts from the bad rings and excessive clearance so..........i can either bore and go with a 366 kit, here heat will be an issue, or i can get a jug off of ebay and re bore it and buy a new piston to suit. I would like to bump my compression up to the 10.75-1 or 11-1 range (any problems here with clearance on a .450 cam?) so let me know your suggestions and some cheap places to order a piston. Also i have some side to side play in my lower rod bearing so whats a good rod and how much of a pain is it to replace. thanks!!

The 366 kit is a joke, it's just a very thin bore on the stock sleeve, and I never heard anything good about them.

About the rod, I think there is supposed to be side-to-side play in the lower bearing. I wouldn't worry about that at all unless there's some up and down play in it.

mine was like that to after i got it when i tore it down i just got a .20 over wiesco piston and bored it out but i wish i would of get the je piston but i got a cam and piston kit and valve spring kit for 250 u can run the 450 cam if u want but ide just run a 390 from webcams it works good

thats more or less what i expected to hear from the 366 kit and im pretty sure ill just get a used jug and bore it from there. the rod is a versah rod already i just wasnt sure about the side to side. I already have the .450 cam but i think im ok on a 10.75-1 piston. does anyone know anywhere other than alba to get a 10.75-1 je piston from??

also check a local dealer around u they can get it or try some mags and look in the adds

Give JE themselves a call, they sold a 400ex 11 to 1 piston to my buddy for very cheap directly. As for cam you should go with the .430 web race or the midrange cams from powroll or other similar places. Be cautious when buying used aluminum jugs, they might have been abused and warped by the previous owner. You would be best off just using your own if it's in good shape and just install a new sleeve.

i can get a sleeve for about 60$ so i may just do that and ill try calling je. how much difference would a .430 cam help out the bottom end if i get rid of my .450??
