Neutral light

I have a small problem I was racing my warrior and my clutch went out. before I changed my clutch I seen that my neutral light wasn't working now that I put my new clutch in the light still don't work and it won't start unless I pull the clutch even in neutral.
What could the problem be ?

theres a ground wire to the case also that you could check, look for it being unplugged corroded or broken.

Well I rode saturday and the light was working and would start in neutral with out the clutch pulled. Not sure what was wrong but its working now.
