Hey guys, noob here from the Missouri. I'm on my second Warrior.First was an 01, and now I have a 96 Warrior. Guess I'm just too old school, as Much as I like the LTZ400's and EX's, something about a simple old Warrior, makes me smile everytime. Yamaha must have done something right, for them to be around so long.

Picked it up in pretty good shape(considering age). Still has the original plastics(no cracks or breaks), and the original seat(flawless).
It's had a few mods, just not sure what all has been done(pipe and jet, for sure)
Look forward to learning and hopefully sharing.

Welcome to the site man. I know what ya mean about Warriors as I have two right now. As much as I'd like to have something newer and fast, I just cant bring myself to to get rid of either of them. Get some pics of that beast up. LOL

Well these will have to do for now. This was last week after I picked it up:

I'd say for $750 I did ok. Only problems I'm aware of, are the OIL WAS HORRID. Found grass on the oil pump screen, and valves are noisy IMO.

Get that oil changed asap if its that bad, and the valves in these motors tend to be noisy, there should be a guide in the tutorial section on how to adjust them.

I have changed the oil 3x already, it looks good now. I'm running RotellaT 15-40 in it now.
I actually found this site while searching for the valve specs.

Just order Nerf bars on the CHEAP because of this site. Hell, 30 minutes in thus forun, has saved me at least $40!

There some great tips here, look up the tutorial section lots of good stuff there.

Ya between deals everyone finds being posted and people selling upgraded parts that they upraded to the next step. Lots of money can be save. Hell man the only thing that I put on the Warrior in my avatar that I paid full price for was the Wiesco piston kit. Everything else I found a deal on or bought used from guys on here. I just save $150 on a brand new set of Trail Tech lights W/mount and then posted a link to the sale on here and they sold out in a day.

Welcome to the site. Enjoy! Nice lookin wardog u got, and killer price too!

Thanks guys. I think the next thing on the list will be a new Front Bumper, then a chain and sprocket

Cheers fellow Missourian, where abouts you at?

You said you're running rotella in your warrior? How's it work with the wet clutch?

Good lookin bike, my buddies got an identical 96

I'm over north of Liberty south of Cameron (KC side)

Rotella works great. I have used it in my Goldwing(actually all of my Motorcycles) with no ill effects. It was actually recommended to me by a fellow Goldwing nut. I've out at least 5000 miles on my Wing with no issues at all.

It's not an energy conserving oil, and I like the 40w. so it's good to go.
