I just bought an 88 warrior. I dont know if any work has been done other than a supertrap muffler. When I test drove it I was in town and seemed to run good. When I got it home (in the woods with no neighbors for miles) and I opened it up. After 100 yards it sputtered and died. After a few min I got it going and went home. it had a small fuel line with a small lawnmower fuel filter on it and there was barely any flow. I installed a new fuel line and took it for a spin. It runs great until it gets into the high rpm range then it starts to sputter. It will do this in any gear. I can go wot and everything is great until the top 10-15% of the rpm range. I hope that explains it. The other issue is it idles great and then it is like the key is turned off. It will start right back up no problem. The kill switch doesn't always kill the engine either. Sorry for the long post and thank you.

Take your carb off and clean it real good. Also do the pen spring and valve cap mod. It's a sticky if you don't know what it is it should be easy to find it. And WELCOME TO THE FAMILY

If I go into my local shop what jets should I ask for? Also, did this come with a thumb throttle or a twist? I have a twist on mine.

Id get 2 mains 147.5 and a 150 maybe 2 pilots too a 45 and the next size bigger.. stock main is 145 and pilot is 42.5..

Mine has been changed then. I actually prefer the twist. From what I have read cutting out at rpm is a rch condition, is that correct? I am going to try some holes in the filter lid and see what it does. It has obviously had some work done. On the jets, is there a certain type or brand of jet or are they universal for all carbs? Thanks again and sorry for my lack of knowlege

I went to the local shop and they had no idea what jets i needed. He said I would have to bring in my old jets to match them up.

Mikuni and he should know. Just jets for a Yamaha warrior 350

That is what I told him and he said mikuni used 3 different main jets.

No there are 2 different style main jets one has a fatter head which is the style you will need..

I pulled the filter lid and there is a K&N filter in there. The foam gasket is messed up though. I removed the four inlet plugs and took it for a spin and all is good. Any idea how to repair the seal? here are some pictures, hope I did this right.
