i own a yfz 450.a friend of mine that i ride with has a warrior.he has no way of knowing what year it is.got it used no title.vin is to badly scratched up to read.the plastics are blue and yellow.

it runs real good.but sometimes it doesnt want to start.it acts like the starter is just spinning but not even trying to turn over the motor,or it makes a clanking noise.i removed the cover and looked to see if i could see any obvious problems but didnt remove flywheel.what i seen looked fine.toke starter off and hooked it to a battery and it spun just fine.

when we are out riding if he hits water it dies and we have to sit and wait for it to dry up before it will start.i did a water test and determined it was the coil.ordered the part should get it today are tomorrow.it seamed to me that it had a weak spark anyway.when it is hooked to a charger it has better spark and turns over faster making it start easier.

i know the raptor replaced the warrior.can the raptor body be put on the warrior, what other parts will interchange.

thanks for any and all help

Sounds to me like a bad Starter Clutch. Their pretty common to go bad.

If you can read the number that is the 10th digit in the vin you can get the year. Also look at what style stator connections there are and that helps too.

They make Raptor/YFZ plastics for warrior bodies.

The hitting water thing sounds to me like a bad or exposed wire somewhere or bad ground. hopefully the new stator helps out.

Goodluck with helpin your bud and welcome to the site.
