Hey there. Me and my 12 year old just sold our dirt bike and got us some 4-wheelers. He got tired of racing MX. I got him a 2001 Yamaha Warrior and me a 2006 Suzuki King Quad. We absolutely love them so much more that the dirt bikes. I had a 1988 blaster back when i was like 16 or 17 and really forgot how much i enjoyed ridding them. And my son has took to his warrior like a duck to water. Within a week he was jumping over 25 ft (I measured). And he really likes it more now after I did the clutch mod. If he's going that hard with the warrior already, some aftermarket suspension might be something to think about soon. The stock shocks are only good for so much, they're like pogo sticks in comparision to aftermarket ones.
