New to site Need help with Chain Tension

I just traded a Kawi in last sunday for my 2005 Raptor 350 Limited Edition. ( love the black colors , makes me feel like batman. ) My question is how do you guys check the chain tension. I already know how to tighten and loosing ,(the bolts were a bitch). What I really need to know is what you use to check the distance in the slack.

Only mods I am planing on so far is
New exahust , Air Filter and jets
Nerf Bars

All several months away.

have someone press down on the grab bar then you should be able to move the chain up an down like half an inch or so both directions.

Thanks for the info. I picked it up sunday from the dealer and it seemed rather loose.

iv heard, with some one on the bike you should be able to get 3 fingers between the swingarm and the chain? got it off some bike show so not shure if it 100% but it should be close

There should be a half inch of play in each direction when it is adjusted right.
