ok so I bought a 2000 warrior, with a known electrical issue, would not start from push button, but would start by jumping the solenoid, upon tracing the harness I found it was badly shorting and grounding out where the harness runs along the frame under the tank. so I removed the complete harness and all electrical components, cdi box, rectifier... and swapped it all with the harness off an old parts warrior I had, not completely sure of the year. majority of the connectors were different, and the cdi box and rectifier also, I also swapped the stators due to the connectors being different. now it will crank but I cant get any spark, it'll shoot one spark for every 5 rotations. and as a side note the parts quad was running perfectly fine when parted out, it just had frame damage. any one have any ideas, all grounds are cleaned and properly grounded

are the stators non interchangeable? i swapped the whole cover with the stator and pick up as one. and is there a difference in cdi boxes? even though i changed the complete harness

I know stators are different.. But I imagine if you swapped the whole thing over it should work! Sorry im no electrical man but sounds like maybe you have miss placed wire or pick up is bad..

yea I swapped both stator and pick up, all the wires went right back to there original location, and as I said everything worked on the other quad. I just want to know if anyone else has ever done the harness swap and has ran into this problem

maybe your pick up coil became out of spec when changed over ex. bumped or moved further away from the stator in R/R causing it to not be close evough to pickup pulse except on a certain rotation? ohm test everything is the cheapest easiest way to start your troubleshooting. wherever you lose voltage start digging.

you also need to swap the flywheel/Magneto cause they are different as well that's your firing issue

Agree with hauler. Switching harness with non compatible yr is fine but u need all elec components to make it work. U will prob find non essential things like lights, extra will have diff connectors as well
