ok so ive had some noise at high rpm i know the warrior has alot of valve noise but it has gotten worse so i went to change my oil today and the filter has flakes of metal in it not much maybe 20 flakes the size of the tip of ball point pen. i know it sucks. it only seems to make this noise while riding at high rpm if in nutral and reving it dosent seem to do it . i do need a clutch bad but that should not produce flaks should it .**** this sucks

Well it could be the clutch. If your clutch is that noticeably bad, the friction plates may be so thin that they are making contact with the steel plates. When the clutch is engaged and you have a load on it, it will slip and grab, slip and grab, means bad things for the clutch componants. Take your valve covers off and inspect the rockers and cam best you can, if no wear there I would have to lean more towards the clutch.

my clutch is pretty bad it realy slips in 3rd 4th and up i pulled the valve covers and every thin g there looks good and it only make noise when clutch is engaged when in nutrel no noise ill pull my clutch cover in the morning

If you are in gear and it is making the noise, does the noise go away when you pull in the clutch?

I would eliminate the clutch first and see what happens. Mine will make a whining noise when in 4th 5th and 6th. Sometimes it does it, sometimes it wont. I replaced the clutch soon after I put the engine in my bike (picked it up used while looking for other parts). It was replaced once before and was not assymbled correctly. When I changed the oil and filter after confirming the engine ran I found the same the metal flakes on the filter as you (very thin and very lightweight). I've changed the oil 3-4 times since and have only a light dusting of metal fibers on the filter. But thats from the clutch, and the new top end I just put on. I'm pretty confident that the bottom end was rebuilt once before, and I suspect the noise if from the trans gears having very tight clearences.

That's what mine looked like, aluminum. I never tried to see if they would get picked up by a magnet.

ill get a clutch soon ive read some other post on here and seen alot of this i t just scared me. the last time i changed my filter there were flakes this time there were more

Thats why I went ahead and put in the ebc drc kit. Comes with the fricton plates, steel discs, and springs. I figured it was slipping, had shavings on the filter, and I figured no since in getting just the frictions and needing more then just them. Haven't had issue yet.
