Hello guys. I bought a pretty beat up warrior to restore. The quad needed top end gaskets so I tore the top end apart, installed gaskets, and then put everything back together. A weird problem occurred... When I press the starter it seems like there is 0 compression. As if the valves or the piston isn't moving. It doesn't even sound like it's turning over. But here's the weird catch. The first thing I would think is the one way clutch isn't connecting the starter to the motor.. But I believe it is because I can see the timing chain spinning and I have spark... So what in the heck could it be? I am completely stumped guys.. :argh:

So is the motor (crank and cam/valve train) spinning over when you try to start it? and have you done a compression test? are you sure the timing is correct?

I don't believe it was spinning over but I will check and do a valve compression test. The timing was is correctly

If the starter is spinning but the timing and stuff is not spinning, then you likely busted a keyway (assuming your one-way starter bearing is good)

Can you explain what a key way is? I thought maybe something happened with my cam?

If you pull your flywheel, there is a slot in it and a slot in the end of the crankshaft. A piece of metal called a key way goes in there and connects the two. If you shear it, then it can cause no spark issues because the the flywheel wont spin with the rest of the motor, meaning a no spark situation. You said you have spark though, so you may just want to verify the flywheel is spinning by looking through the timing cover hole in the stator cover.
