i found a 94 ext cab chevy 1500 3 inch lift that needs tires.. but heres the thing the motor and tranny replaced with 168000 on them the truck body has 300,000? what yall think he wants 2000.. just thinking i need a new truck quick so tell me what yall think thanks

Too much. 1500 tops with no rust in the wheel wells or rockers. And the new tranny and motor have over 100000 miles. Tires aint cheap either.

So in total the truck has 300k miles, and at 168k the motor and tranny were rebuilt, or the motor and tranny has 168k since they were rebuilt? To me thats alot of miles though there was a truck here that had 500k on it and was a 97. My 94 chevy has a total of 225 rebuilt motor 25k miles back and just got done rebuilding tranny again. If the truck was taken care of, and maintained like it should have been then it should be good, though the one thing I would worry about is the tranny, pending how it was rebuilt, with that many miles on it, they tend to blow the 3-4 clutch pack, ask me how I know. Other than that these year of trucks are tough mine has been though hell, it had 135 k when I bought it 8 years ago and now has total 225K and runs like a top.

To me body mileage is nothing, its the motor and driveline, ball joints, tie rods, rearend, wheel bearings and axle the things that get the most stress and wear look it over real good. Look for signs of leaks, or smoking. If it smokes any its likely its wearing out.

And all the steering components in the front are probably wore out. Take it for a test drive and see how it is.

Oh something else you say its lifted is it really 4x4 or a 2wheel just lifted I have seen that done before. And yes those 4x4 tires are highly exspensive look at least to pay about 150 a tire for a good one, 100 on the cheaper low mileage.

the motor and tranny have 168000 on them now and it has chevy rust like most of them i got a 89 reg cab long bed now but shes tired and this dont seem to bad ill probably get my 89 motor rebuilt just to have it in case. i also have my 6 lugs on my truck now i can put on it maybe

Wow thats alot of miles, and the rust mine I haven't noticed it but its not a 4wd mine is 2wd. I would be leary of it with that many miles, those 4l60e trannys can be tricky when they get miles on them if not rebuilt back with the updates. I would look for a better deal or a truck with less miles. Unless like said before it was taken care of really good then it might not be bad. Also keep in mind your gas mileage will suffer greatly with 4wd.

ya gas aint nothing to me i get 8mpg now cant get much worse. i still dont know because their aint many trucks around me and i need one by end of march

Holy crap 8mpg damn, I couldn't deal with that, in town with mine I get bout 15. Well look that sucker over really good check it with a fine tooth comb, if you can take it to a shop for about 50-80 bucks they will look it over and run test on it to see what kind of shape its in. If its been oil changed and greased like it should have been it should get you by. If nothing else you have another parts truck. 88-about 98 were the same trucks and some part will interchange, why I like chevy's.

haha yea i know i get 8 driving slow... thats what i was thinking and i can get my motor rebuilt for under 300. how much are tranny rebuilds tho? i know its been in some mud too

I just had a guy do mine for 650 that was a referral from a guy work that lives down the street from him, plus he does it this cheap to make a little and to help out, other places they wanted 800 to 1200 to rebuild it.

i see i dont think its to bad if she runs and drives good plus i got my 89 if anything was needed i think itd work out good im gonna take a pretty good look at it sunday.. Depending on what i find might offer 1700

Good luck maybe it will work out for ya. If you ever want to rebuild that tranny let me know, I will tell what to tell the shop to make sure they fix and parts to replace right.

willl do hopefully it works out but im not counting the chicks before they hatch haha ill let ya no sunday or monday what comes of it man thanks

if it drives good when you test drive it try for 1500. then I'd check craigslist for tires, lots of peeps sell good 80%tread tires on it over here.

It all depends on what shape it's in and how it was maintained.I paid $3000 for my '93 GMC over a year ago,was offered $5000 for it.A friend just sold his'96 Chev for$6500.
