NooB question guys,

What does it do? What are the modifications needed? worth it? Post pics, People have mentioned it and I have no clue what it is...

i dont have any pics but its well worth it...it cools the engine down by 30 degrees or at least thats what i was told. There are two ways to do it. You can do the big bear kit where you get the parts off a yamaha big bear 350 for their oil coolers then go buy a transmition cooler from an auto parts store. or you can do the way dave76 did it where you drill into your cluch side case, idk how its done you have to ask him but im told that way is much better it cools it much better.

basically it's just a radiator for your engine oil. Cooling the oil decreases the overall engine temperature to increase engine life, and also to let the transmission operate more smoothly and reliably. The cooler oil will also last longer between changes because heat increases the speed oil breaks down. If you're having any kind of trouble with your transmission it would be well worth it, and even if not it's a good idea because as noted, it will help decrease engine wear.

According to FST the clutch version cools the motor 60 to 90°F cooler, and the main bearing gets the cooled oil first unlike the bigbear where it goes through the entire motor first.

I just got my 07 350, and I haven't ridden it in the warm weather yet, how hot do these bikes get?? I'm wondering if I should get coolers for them.

so the FST kit includes everything, you just need to tap clutch case?

Anyone care to answer this?

Also, I though heat meant Hp? Thats how it is on sleds and exhaust's. Or does cooler temps mean more hp?

Can someone link me to some sites, or price me out what I should pay? Is it hard to install this? Is more oil needed? What are you guys running for oil?

It works good, I've got the Big Bear set up on mine. Total For everything was about $170 that includes the oil cooler, lines and the big bear stuff. I had to move a few things around to make it fit but it was easy.

Before I would over heat in about 2 to 3 hrs of hard riding now I can go all day and the tranny will only act up at the end of the day. Plus now I can do oil changes every other week end instead of every weekend.

Heres some pics.
