if you have the old one it should be made of a screen type deal. you could just wash it out with gas and be good to go. that is if it's not damaged.

i had a K&N oil filter it was great small metal filter i could just was it out then blow it out and was good as new.

Always smart to buy new filters. No need to ruin a good engine because the oil wasn't properly filtered. I second the email buy, you can get them a few at a time.
