i've been thinking for a while about getting a quad to "restore" and it looks like there are banshees out there that are in fairly decent condition for not that much money. i have to say that i hate the fact that they dont have reverse, but that might be something that i could live without. anyway, what do you guys think about 'em?

They're a blast to ride in wide open areas, but it's scary to ride them in close quarters, I tried riding my 2nd cousin's bashee in the trails once and I had a lot of close encounters with trees. You have to work the clutch A LOT to do any kind of technical riding because the shee's engine feels like 2 hp when it's not in the powerband. Thumbs down for reliability too, you have two of everything to break and replace with the 350 twin.

yeah, i've heard they are kings when it comes to dune riding but not on the trails. that was another concern of mine since there arent any dunes in souther indiana. i've just read that the new 700r is trying to take the place of the banshee. if i had the money, i would love a 700r or yfz, but i'm looking for something to work on over time instead of dropping a ton of money all at once.

after reading some reviews on the banshee, it sounds like everyone says you have to keep it in its powerband or it will fall in its face. doesnt sound like the type of quad for the types of trails i ride on. is that kind of typical of all two strokes?

suzuki quadzillas or quadsports or pretty popular to restore and arent to bad on the trails not all 2 strokes are like that polaris has some quads that would probably suit your needs but the quadzilla is definetly a good investment and fun as hell when there done

cody you dont know what your talking about...you dont even own a quad worth having and the biggest quad you have ever ridden was a blaster that is a pile of $#!t

I know alot of people that trail ride banshees and on top of that ives seen them blast through quite a few mud pits. Do not ride behind a banshee!

banshees are crazy fast there are some out there that go over 100mph

hahahahahaha roflmfao

o man.. lol hahaha

he better have some $ cause the head gaskets are $40 a peice and the water pumps leak on every single suzuki which will piss you off...

My cousin has an 86 quadracer that's all original except for a few of the normal wear-and-tear items. Nothing leaks on it at all. He broke something in the transmission during a tug-of-war match against a 68 cub cadet, that's the only major thing that ever broke on it since new, and it broke because of extreme abuse. So it's not EVERY SINGLE suzuki that has problems.

I think "somebody's" brand loyalty is getting in the way of their ability to formulate intelligent statements.
