if i am starting from scratch, what do i need? subs, amp, speaker wire, boxes for speakers, and anything else? i dont really wana spend more then 150 to 200 bucks... what should i get for cheap and it still be good? are sony Xplods good? and im totaly in the dark with amps... they confuse me...

if you want cheap i would go to wolly world the sell basic kits as far as wires and what not. also have drop in subs and amps. that is the cheap route. i would check out your local pawn store b/c the almost always have a ton of stuff. also it is not just how great of a speaker ya get it is also how you tune your system to your car.

after all was said and done i had close to 600 into my sound system in my old subie, and that was still considered cheap by a lot of guys out here

yup dont buy the small gauge wire from wally world buy the biggest they got witch i think is 8 and thats still considered small to alot of big name system ppl...but as akaguppy said...u can dump mad **** into a single sub setup and still have some one out there that has more ...kinda like quads haha...if ur doin a truck setup ur not gonna need something outrageously over powered...id go with the sony xploids at wally world ive owned a pair n they slammed and had great durablility...ull need a head unit also if u dont already have one along with the wiring harness and dash install kit...as for boxes go..i wouldnt recomend the walmart DIYs cuz if u goin with a 12" or even a 10" the small sealed box wouldnt let the sub breath enought aka not cooling the voice coils down under high loads..but this all comes along with what kinda truck u got is it ext cab or no if not ull have to get specially made boxes for trucks...and subs..they are made shallower but perform just as well.....but if u tell us what ur puttin it in ext cab or no then...we can help u out alot more as to what equipment u need and how $$$ it will cost ya...

you need an amp wiring kit I run 4 gauge for the power and ground with a 1000watt monoblock amp and 8 gauge for the sub which is 1800RMS and then just 16 gauge for the remote

check the spl ratings man, i use to work at a car audio shop and do all the comps. its alot of un if you know what your doing

Yep most of this will steer you in the right direction. Take it from a guy that normally has less than $500 in a system and it sounds like I got thousands, it all in how you set it up. Youll want to match the amp rms to speaker rms, one for best sound and Ive found over time if they are to far apart it will wear one out quicker than the other.

well its just a reg cab truck and i plan on eigher putting it under or behind the seat... i have access to all the saws i could ask for so i can make speaker boxes i think... like i said i really want to spend as little as possible and have something thats not gona burn up after a couple months
