hey yall. well i took the plastics off the warrior to clean it today (saw it on another thread and thought i would try it, works well) and touched up some of the frame with some silver paint (blends in really well, i got lucky and got an almost exact match!). well, got to thinking that i might trim my front fenders, but i had a question. if i were to just do a trim like bad04warrior did (pictures here: http://yfm350.proboards31.com/index.cgi?board=elite&action=display&thread=1114536145 ) to remove most of the black part, how well do they hold up without the support bracket (in front of the motor that holds the bottom of the fenders in place)? i like the look of that trimming job, but dont really want my fenders flopping around when i ride. any ideas? also, im thinking about taking my wheel hubs off and painting them. if anyone else has done this, did you just degrease, sand and paint, or did you use primer as well? also, is clearcoat a good idea to use on these? thanks

There is a picture of mine. They don't move at all without the bracket on them.

right on. thanks for the help man. i think im gonna go for it tomorrow if i have time. any ideas on the hubs?

righty-o. well i guess ill give it a shot. still got some of the silver paint left so i might use that. if not, i might go for the standard yammerhaw blue. gotta make up my mind, because my girlfriend's 300ex i got for her came with red hubs to match the plastics and it looks good.

When i did my hubs this is what i did..

1.Remove hubs spray with wd-40"easiest way to remove any oils/grease,most degreasers have oils in them"
2.Using either a soft wire brush or a scotch brite pad, clean up hubs with basic soapy water, then dry.
3.Mask up your threads
4.Coat with primer and set for 30 min, coat until primer is solid"no metal seen"
5.Using base coat put about 2 or 3 coats or depending on the color, coat until solid.."mainly for lighter colors"15 min per coat and let sit for about an hour when finished.
6.Clearcoat will be about 3 coats, you can put on more if desired...but your hubs and or spindles really dont get hit with much from riding.....10 min per coat and let sit for 24 hrs before hadling unless you are baking them.

Depending on what your using for paint setting times and weather conditions may be different....

Looks like this is a good time to paint them then. I don't think its supposed to be very HOT or HUMID this week in our area...

Painting when hot is ok as long as theres some shade"garage"and you can get the paint on equal and fast before it dries..lol....humid weather sucks ass 75% theres gonna be a problem...lol

right on. i might bake them too. i did that with the brake calipers on my old car and the header on the warrior (vht "flameproof" paint, what i like to call "smurf blue"!) well im off to wally-world to cruise the rattle can section. thanks!
