hey guys. if you ad a higher compresion piston. do you have to rejet. or can you just switch to a higher octane.
 
Octane and jetting have nothing to do with each other, if your motor is running too lean upping your octane will not stop you from burning up your motor. Also think about it like this, you could spend a couple bucks rejeting once or KEEP spending more money to run higher octane.
 
Usually you'll have to rejet since you'll probably have to do a bore job on it, making it use slightly more fuel. I've always done other mods, so I'm not exactly sure about it if you use the same bore.
 
i am not boreing the cylinder nothing is wrong with the bore. if i am making the combustion chamber a smaller area buy adding a high comp. piston then why would more fuel by rejetting help. that would probaly be worse for my motor. if it runs leans that won't hurt the motor cause it will not be at full power.

Very wrong. It's better to be rich than lean. Running rich, you will have carbon deposits that will cause excessive wear over time, but when you're running lean it runs a lot hotter, and you get a whole lot more excessive wear, and can even burn a valve, burn a hole in your piston, or warp the head if it gets bad enough.
 
You mean it's better to run rich, the carbon mess you can clean up. When you run lean your motor is getting burned by a torch pretty much. I'd rather scrape some carbon out than buy a completely new top end.
