I'm planning on building a rack to stack my quad and sled for storage.

My garage is on the small side and every sq foot helps.

Does anyone have any suggestions, plans, words of wisdom or warnings??

Any and all info appreciated.

Thanks

...Does anyone have any suggestions, plans, words of wisdom or warnings??....

make sure you have your plans looked over by an Engineer. Might cost you a couple bucks but nothing compare to if it collapses with the 'toys' on it.

I'd say to put the lighter one on top. That way if something does fall (god forbid) if anyone or anything is around, you lessen the damage on all acounts. Ohh, and go to your local auto repair store, and pick up some Heavy Duty ratchet straps (like 3k pounds or more) and use them as a secondary support. Thread them around a beam or support in the garage ceiling. Thanx way you can have it up on the rack, but not 100% of the weight on it constantly, only during loading, and unloading.

1st put the sled on top... only because you will use it less than the quad.... 2nd if you build it right there shouldn't be any fear against calapse... 3rd don't go cheap on wood/bolts/winch

The statement on callapse, I meant as if anything other then it's own weight. Such as something hitting it, or anything out of the ordinary. You don't want to have it be just the rack, all or nothing. You'd want something as a fail safe, hence the ratchet straps. And w/ the straps holding a portion of the weight, it should just make it all the more stable.

I'm going to try and do something like this...

Why don't you just buy that???

WOuld cost about the same I imagine and you won't have to deal with building it or worrying about whether your design will hold up.

I can't find anyone who sells it....

I don't know who makes it...brand, manufacturer, etc.

u get that one make sure u hit a stud with every screw u put in the wall if not its gona come down faster than it went up

the ones rexx and 2xtreme posted look good just have the quad on the bottom and make sure the sled isnt to long either

I ended up getting an ATV shipping crate from a local dealer.

Now I just have to figure out how to get me sled up on top!!!
