I just bought an '06 Raptor 350 and I have noticed the transsmission knocking when in nuetral. It sounds like the bike wants to go in gear. Has anyone else encountered this and what can I do to fix it.

Just to let everyone know I took the bike back to the dealer and it was not a problem with forward or reverse the shift linkage was not correct and when in nuetral it was wanting to go into gear. It just needed some adjusting

I just got one last week, if mine did that it would be back at the dealer in a heartbeat.

It wasnt after using reverse was it?

Just make sure its engaged in forward all the way after using reverse.

May sound stupid but it can happen.

Not saying that is the problem but pays to check........... ::)

If you just bought it, take it back and let the dealer fix it, messing with it might void your warranty. But the shift linkage my need adjusted or the reverse linkage.

If it makes a knocking clicking sound then youre not fully in forward and reverse. Let the clutch out partway and push the shifter firmly forward (or backwards). Reverse sucks on these quads but mine has improved with use.

That is probably the problem. I've known people who would turn em off when going to and from reverse. I just hold it the way I'm wanting to go and ease out on the clutch. Goes in with little or no problem. If it seems really bad though, I'd take it to the dealer and ask em about it. Or if you know anyone else who rides a raptor/warrior, try theirs and see if it is better. If it is take yours to the dealer and see if they can adjust it.

yea just gotta work it lol but if u race xc are trail let me tell u it will come handy

sounds like a common problem because it happens to me every now and then. like others said its when i dont get the reverse lever shifted all the way back forward. like kreed said, i hold on to mine, put it into the forward position (while holding the clutch of course), and then kick it down into first. when i do that it normally pops the shift lever all the way forward, locking it in. is there a possibility that your clutch may need adjustment (lever side?) maybe its engaging too early? not sure, im not a big motor head or clutch expert. just a thought.

I htink they all do it.............I got in the habbit of not completly stopping ,going from reverse to forward or visaversa....

when your in reverse shift up to neutral, put it in foreward while still rolling back and shift into 1st and go, it saves soo much time and it goes into neutral than 1st easier

I have to say that mine's the complete opposite of that. Mine rarely goes from reverse to forward while it's in neutral, 1st gear seems to work fine.

Yea I have to be in gear to to get it to engage again.

Was that the problem striker2448 ?

My reverse on the warrior was a pain in the ass, were you supposedf to engage it in nuetral or first? I always did it in nuetral, I had to turn my bike off EVERY time just to get it out of nuetral.

Im not sure what ya were suppose to do..........but I,ve been jammin mine in ,while in 1st since 1990......lol

Mine works just as it claims, a piece of cake in any gear. Give it a good shove forward and push it down with a jiggle and it goes in easily every time.

Mine is easier to put in reverse or forward from any gear other than neutral. If it is in neutral, I have to put it into first or second to get it to fully engage.

Common problem-dont sweat it(unless you can get the dealer to pony up)but--there is probably nothing he can do for it.Ever had a 76-82 Chevy 4x4?It feels like the exact same thing happens-strange,but not going to harm the machine
