I looked but could not find an answer to my question when do you grease the carrier before or after the carrier is put back together with new bearings and seals

A lot of people tap a grease zerk into the rear carrier before they reinstall the axle and bearings. If you haven't assembled everything, I would recommend you do that so you can grease it regularly. As for installation, I would say grease it as you assemble it, not after you are done.

There is a grease fitting in the carrier i guess what I am asking is you put the new bearings in seals and the spacer in between the bearings do you pump it full of grease before or after you put the axle through and completely back together

Grease everything while assembling and then once the axle is in, use the grease fitting.

Do you tighten everything up then grease it also how tight do you tighten the big nuts also do you use something like loc tite on the threads for the big nuts so they don't loosen up

The grease fittings are always the last thing you do after everything is bolted up and tightened to spec. I honestly don't know the torque specs for the axle nuts because I've never had to replace my rear bearings.

Pack the carrier with grease before you slide the axle though, that's how Ive done all mine. The grease zerk is a good thing to do but you said its already done, Ive seen some guys take the inner race seals off the bearings and pack them with grease. Just think the more the better, I never use Loctite on the axle nuts. Now ive seen at events before guys running black tape/duct tape on them to keep them form coming undone, They would wrap them to the size of a baseball lol. If you got the TUSK/Gforce axle with the 3 piece locknut then it feels odd when tightening, I like a thread type locknut the 3 piece suck!!!

Thanks for commenting Tim, rather have someone with experience tell him how to do it. Like I said, haven't had to change my axle bearings or axle yet.

Warrior96 you was spot on, You know how to do it. I was just giving a few other tips. The zerk install is the life of the bearings, Also Pivotworks bearings are all now a Lifetime warranty.

Believe me when I have to replace my bearings, the zerk is definitely going in. I was just using prior knowledge on everything else... surprising how stuff translates from machine to machine.

Thanks guys great info I am kinda new at this
