Ok so im buying new rims and tires after christmas, when i know ill have extra cash. Im torn between itp gncc or trac stars. I ride all types of terrain and mx, so any input? I hear the trac stars ride smooth as butter and wear well, and ive heard good things about the gncc but i hear they wear fast, and they are only available with 22 front (would a 2 inch difference front to back hurt performance?). Theyll be mounted on offset rims for a slightly wider stance and i was thinking of getting 10" rear rims for better handling and less sidewall flex. Anyone run 10 inch rear rims with 20 inch tires, give me some input.

A 2 inch difference between front and rear will be fine. I don't know about 10 inch rear wheels with 20 inch tires though, that depends a lot on how rocky your trails are. The tire would have a very small sidewall, so you would inevitably have a rougher ride because there is less flex. You will also have more of a chance to damage your new wheels on rocks, both from just normal riding, and when you're sliding it around.

I run 22" fronts and 20" rears, it'll be fine. I don't know that I'd go up to a 10" rear rim though for the reasons stated above. I trash rims now with the extra sidewall, it would be worse with less sidewall.

Why not go with a good 6 ply tire? They will be tough and wear alot better. I'm running ITP XCR 21x7x10 fronts on ITP T9 2+3 wheels, and the backs are ITP HDs 20x11x9 on ITP T9 wheels, I think there 3+5 offset. They are awsome.
