reverse lever rod

If there's anyone here who has adjusted there reverse lever rod could you please tell me how to do it . I losened the adjuster nuts and then when I try to turn the rod it doesnt move .

I have a repair manual uploaded http://members.toast.net/rikoster/atv/a6s5e71sda.pdf. It'll take about an hour to open up if you have dialup internet, but you can save it on your computer and look at it whenever you have a problem like this.

no no thats not what I'm asking . I want to know what to use so I can adjust the reverse rod further into its forward gear .

if the nuts on both ends of the rod are loosened and it doesn't turn either the rod is already adjusted to it's limit(which would only keep it from turning one way) or the ends are rusted/corroded and need some penetrating oil to loosen them up. All that's involved is loosening the nuts on both ends and turning the rod.
