reverse light came on when riding then it died

hi im andy new owner and new to the forum the light came on then died bumped started and rode it back to camp now noting its a 88 just pulled it out of my cousins back yard put battery in change oil ran fine he said there was a bad ground also a bad fuse could it be a neutral switch or the whole harnes

He sounds right, check the fuse that is under your left rear fender and the ground for the reverse lever.
