Reverse shaft not connected

Hey guys, I am a new Warrior, just got this machine a week ago. It's a 1994 and the whole mechanism for reverse is missing. No shifter or anything and somebody used a cable tie to keep the shaft from jumping all over.
I have no doubt that something has packed up in there, just wondering if there is a common fault with the reverse gear that you guys know of and how difficult it is to replace?

i've never had a problem with a reverse gear BUT anything is possible. you have to split the transmission case to change the reverse cogs. can you take a picture of where the reverse shifter goes into the case at?
