I wanna take my reverse shifter off but there are those 2 wires that go onto it, what do I do about those? And should I cover up that hole from the bolt that goes to the engine?
 
It needs to be adjusted probably, the rod isn't set to the right distance.
 
did you pull the clutch?

and you don't need to put up on the shifter... you just have to pull the clutch.. lift the lever, and move it back until it clicks into position.
 
I think he means the reverse lever... You'll probably need to shorten the length of the rod, since you pull the lever back the part that goes in the motor isn't pulling up far enough. Check your clutch free play, and also warm your motor up good before doing a test. I've had the reverse act funky while the motor was cold once before. I'm assuming things will start going a lot better once you adjust that rods length though.
