hey yall. well, i think ive got the warrior broken back in, but now it doesnt want to idle since i have the hotcam in it. it will run and idle when i first start it up, but after i ride it for a minute or 2 it just doesnt want to idle for ****! so, kinda dumb question: i need to speed up my idle, right? which way do i need to turn my idle screw on my carb? really dont want to take it back to the shop just to have the idle set b/c i would feel like a worthless douche! ive gone back and forth with this idle screw and it just keeps cutting out on me. help!

I'd try messing around with the fuel screw (brass screw underneath carb towards the center) It shouldn't be your idle adjustment if it idles when it's cold, it's probably just a matter of it being too rich at idle.

see, thats the thing though. my jetting was set when it came from the shop. as far as i know, that brass thumb screw (if we are talking about the same one) is the idle screw. do you mean the one on the left side of the carb that faces up into the carb? with the spring on it? anyway, i dont think it should be too rich at idle, but ill have to see. thanks

No, the fuel screw isn't the thumb screw. It's a small slot-head screw underneath the carb.

You can see it in that picture, it's above the hole towards the bottom of the picture. I'd start by screwing it in all the way, then turning it out 2 turns and try starting it. Then just turn it up a little bit at a time until you get it idling. You might have to also mess with the idle adjuster (thumb screw) since you already turned it.

ok, so i didnt mess up my fuel screw. i think my mechanic already set my fuel, but told me that once i got my piston rings and cam broken in, i would have to reset my idle, so my fuel should be ok i think. it was running pretty well (air/fuel ratio) on the dyno. my dad and i are going to try to get the idle set sometime this week if we can. i was expecting the idle to be off a bit with this new cam, but i didnt think it would be this much of a pain!

I never had a problem with the idle on my quad and ive had a hotcam for years. But just mess with the gold screw, id imagine its either set way to high or way to low, im going to say way too low.

well, i just had to crank up the idle. my mechanic told me which way to turn it and that he had already set the fuel screw at the shop after the build. turns out i needed to crank that bitch up a good ways before it would idle after it warmed up, then backed it off a little. runs great now. just need to change the oil before my girlfriend and i leave for our vacation. later
