Shift link removal

Hey guys this going to sound dumb and I don't really have time to pull the peg and all off but does anyone know how to. Get the locking clip off the stock shifter with out peg removal I tryed a screw driver to try to push it off but it just slides around so if any one can give me some advice or has any ideas I would appreciate it I built a custom shifter and haven't been able to use it due to the stock one being stuck on the peg

There's a c clip just pop it off with a flat blade and it slides right off.

I used pliers, put them closed and pushed the clip down. I had to do this cause prev owner welded the peg to the frame

I tryed the flat blade thing wouldn't work it just slid around the groove

Dude, it's an e clip, you can't just try to push one side, it'll keep sliding. You need to put a screwdriver in the rounded side and twist.

Thanks I spun it and from what I could tell it's a c clip but now that you say it's an e clip ill get home and yank it off
