Hi, I had to sell my Raptor 700 tu buy a brand new garage and snowblower last Fall... I got a deal on a 2006 Raptor 350. I bought it for $500... Of course the quad was in pieces... But anyways. I just bought the HotRod BigBore 397 cc kit which they sell on Ebay. Has anybody ever run this kit in their Quad ? I know I won't be getting the tork I use to have on the big 700, but a little more tork is always fun compared to the stocker 350. I'm gonna use it alot on the beach and for a little trail riding in the back of my house. I don't want to add tons of money in this quad. I know people will probably tell me to buy an oil cooler... I don't spend hours reving it to the max.

Question is, if I do not add the oil cooler will I be ok ? Thankx guys for answering all these questions. And yes I do miss my 2006 Raptor 700... :(

I wouldn't do anything performance without a oil cooler.

That stroker is used a bit, there's3-4 on here that have done a lot with them. Did you go with the stroker piston?

Hotrods +4mm stroker crank
Hotrods 84mm (+1mm) stroker piston
Hotcams Stage 2 cam
Complete gasket kit
Main bearings

^ this set up is not 397cc its 379cc

Yeah man that kit is 379. There was a MAJOR misprint a few years ago stating that they made a +7 mil crank, and that it made 397cc. That kit, like Bones said, is a 379. Same as he has, same as I have, same as a couple others of us have. That is a good kit though. Get the head P&Pd that way you get the most out of this engine. DO AN OIL COOLER. These suckers run hot with a stock engine. More displacement, higher comp, and other mods make it worse. You may want to consider either having the head decked to raise comp ratio some (no more then .015" though). Or leave out the base gasket, which will give you about the same comp ratio gain as the head decking. Just need to make sure that you won't have any valve to piston issues and you'll be good to go. Doubt you will, because that came isn't huge on lift compared to others. It is mostly duration. All and all it'll be a good set up for ya.

Bones' has been together for a few years now. His has a custom JE 11.5:1 piston and a S1HC. I don't think he has any vid of it. Mine is nearly together. Just waiting on the top end to get back. Have the whole bike torn down. Check out my build thread (stroker built) in the projects/pictures area. Jasonp has one that uses a base plate spacer to run a 12:1 JE 85.mm piston, making it a 388. I think 357warrior has the same set up.

i dont have any vids of it as i keep selling my phones to buy parts ...lol... i hoping to make it to elite status and get some vids this spring/summer

So you'll have the second elite 1st gen. After me! lol Be cool though. The only 2 elite 1st gens would be strokers!

Alright but this is a drop in Kit.
No case modification is required. Im Still waiting on this kit
the stage 2 hotcam was back order... My
girlfriends cousin has a 440 ex i just hope i
can keep up. That Honda is a PowerBomb!

The cases don't need modding. I was talking about a couple of members that made base plates or spacers to run stock height non-stroker pistons, to get more displacement. I suggested leaving the base gasket out to bump comp up a bit. It should keep up with the 440. How well... Idk. Run taller gearing. This engine will be able to handle it with all the torque it will be putting out. I'm going to run 15/40 with 21" tires.

Oh yeah, something else you need to do is start a build thread in the pictures are sub-forum.

It won't keep up with the 440

It will do better if it has a 39mm FCR.

One last thing Dooby. Altough that cam is designed to be used with stock valve springs, HD springs are far superior to those stockers. And, if you ever wanted to try a different cam other then the 2 hotcams, you will need beefier springs. You can get Kibblewhite springs off ebay for about a hundred. I know ya want to do the bare minimum to it, but a hundo for springs now, is cheaper then a bent valve and maybe piston later. Even thought the S2HC is supposed to work with stockers, Idk if I'd trust it with the duration it has.
