spark problem

Had no spark last fall replaced pic up coil started and ran didn't ride it much carb is dirty so finally decide to mess with it again today got it running took for short ride shut it off won't start no spark. Is there something that is cause pic up coil to go bad? not sure if it's the problem yet just want to know if there is something cooking it don't want to get another 1 and fry it too

stater could be frying them or shorting wires maybe your sparkplug wire is not contacting coil or plug proper
