depends on mods, but with my 22's and the other mods I have, the stock gearing setup(13/40) seems to be the best compromise. 12/40 seemed too low for wide open areas, and 14 was taller than I liked for technical trails, and too tall for pulling busted up 2 strokes out of the woods after they blow up. It depends on your own riding style and where you ride. If you like to go fast in a straight line all the time go with 14/40(nothing higher than that with a stock motor) or 12/40 if it's mostly slower riding with a lot of corners and acclelerating. If you're like me and do just about everything just stick with the 13/40 gearing.

I guess it depends on the size of the track. Sand has more drag than hard packed surfaces so it'll take more power to get it moving and keep it moving. Just try it out with the gearing you have now and make your own decision based on the way it rides.

my cousin stalled his bayou and the only way to start it is to pop start it, it is kind of hard to pull another 485lb quad up a rocky hill with sand on the top. when we got to the top the hill with much burning out we finnaly got some traction but the warrior got burried up to the frame and when you tryed to get out the front end would pull up we ended up unhooking it, backing up,hooked the bayou back up and just gunned it

a little off topic but i just had to share my sand experience

my itp spidertracs are really good in the sand but you have to cross a creek to get there
and its pretty slippery

iv been trying to get pics but the creek has been too high, i guess ill buy a video converter and take a video of a tipcal riding day
