Hello all new guy here just bought my first Atv(2000 350 warrior). I love it, it's very fast IMO and seems like its well built but what do I know it's just my first experience. I've had it for 4 days and rides very nice I've noticed a knocking sound coming from the shift lever area when trying to start atv did a lot of research which lead to the one way/starter clutch going bad. Im going to replace it my self since it seems like a very easy job. Any advice before I start tearing into the motor?? Is there anything else I should look at or replace/check while I'm in that part of the motor?? And lastley what is the name or where can I find the tool to remove the flywheel???

Thanks in advance.

welcome the tool is call a flywheel puller ... and the best place to get is ebay ... i would look into changing the timing chain well your in there

Should I replace the smaller gear thatS off the starter, flywheel and stator also?? Or just the one way and gear??

just the one way unless the other gear is somehow damaged. as for pulling the flywheel buy the pulled to do it with and NEVER hit the flywheel with the hammer in hopes of jarring it off because you run the risk of busting the magnets out of it

I'm going to check the other parts to see if I need anything else while I'm replacing the one way how long can I leave the engine drained of oil??

You can leave the engine drained for long periods of time. As long as you do not start it or crank it over with the starter for long periods.

Thanks... also how do I know if the timing chain is worn??? I'm about to crack open the case were the one way is and check everything thing in there and order what's needs to e replaced

Got my parts to install one way .. Can I put mobile 1 4 stroke oil in there since I'm no where near a dealer for yamaha lube?? An what type of gasket dealer I need to put on the new gasket for the stator cover??

castrol 4stroke oil is way better. i hate mobil1 anything

One way is turning in one direction so I guess it's good what else can be bad??

Mine made a loud clunking when trying to start. Turns out the bolts that hold the sarter clutch on were loose. I pulled them out and put some loctite on them.

Don't use any gasket sealer, if you haven't already. Gaskets are designed to swell when oil contacts them, and because they are pinched so tight between the cover and case, only the little bit that sticks into the case gets oil. It swells, and the pinched part doesn't. Makes it seal well. About the only time you need to use sealant(black rtv, or some tacky spray) is when there might be some imperfection(s) on one or both gasket surfaces, and the rtv helps to not only seal, but to fill in some of that omperfection. Just don't get too wild cleaning the old gasket material off, so you don't gouge or scar the aluminum.

Ok sorry for the cunfusion YouTube lead me wrong the one way was totally screwed put in a new one and started right up no clunking noise at all . One thing I did for get to add was lock tight hopefully It won't come loose.

Thanks all
