stator question.

as stated in my introduction, I have a warrior of unknown year. I have to replace the stator. My question is how do i know which gen to buy for? I was looking at them on ebay and it looks like some have diff harnesses. Mine has 3 plugs coming off of it, makes me think it is 96 ish. I cannot find a part number on it. Could anyone tell me how to know which one to buy or where to find part number?
