Okay, noticed the steering stem on my '97,doesn't have a grease fitting(zerk)on the steering stem, were it shows in the manual to grease it.....box of parts I picked up,has a stem,it also doesn't have a zerk....but my buddies '87 I noticed, has this fitting...???

Do the newer models not have this zerk in the bottom of the stem..???....is it worth drilling\tapping and putting one in..??

TIA

aaaaaa in my 94 and also the 96 i tore apart there was no zerk... and the bearing is sealed so you cant get grease in it that way anyways... im guessing on the old ones the bearing is open and requires greasing... they did away with that of course after the mud and crap tore up the bearings..... thats just a guess, but i would say a pretty good one... no need for a zerk with the newer models

I think hes talking about the upper stem mount. Nine has now zerk either. I just greased the inside of the two half and just clamped it together. Really dosent matter so much.
