I too would like some knowledge on this subject! Doing rebuild, so no money for new suspension yet. My fat ass wants a better smoother ride through the woods!!
 
hopefully I can find a 01 660 rear when the time comes, seems like it would make it much better!
 
and you have rebound on the rear. it is the bottom flatblade screw on the shock. you should use a spanner wrench to tighten the preload.
 
On the bottom of the front shocks, there are steps and a tab. Just turn the collar to whatever spring preload you desire.
 
I don't have any pics. It's the notched, slanted ring around the shock at the bottom of the spring. If you turn it, it changes the pressure or compression of the spring. I don't know how else to explain it.
