I decided to put a zerk for swingarm needle bearings, can someone tell/look at swingarm and tell me best location for it? My quad is stripped and i wanna make sure nothing is gonna interfere. (no good pic 4 me 2 see) I thinking on top or facing the back or somewhere in between........thanks (im tinkin a 45 or 90 degree fitting)

I did a 45 degree kind of in the center pointing down so I can grease it when I do the lower shock mount bushings.

when you say center, you mean hole is pointing straight back toward axle and then 45 down? also your rear shock has a zerk on it??? Hmmmm, I want 1, hows that work?

I just put a 90 zerk on my swingarm yesterday. I Located mine on the top of the swingarm tube on the brake pedal side. I can grease it from the side and it doesnt come close to touching anything, checked when shock wasnt bolted and no matter how far it rotates it wont touch. I figured this was the easiest place. The only concern i had was only having a grease zerk on one side. But if you give it a few pumps i figured the grease would travel over the course of a couple bumps.
Id suggest marking the location before you unbolt the swinger. I guessed while mine was off and it was perfect. Ill snap a pic tommorow for you.

A pic would be cool and yes i wished i marked it but it was an after thought when peices where already on the bench, much like you, but thats why im here!

Looks good to me thats where I will put mine. Gonna look and see if i can get one on the otherside 2.

:atv:

Great!!!! thanks for the pic, im thinking the center would work too (as for your comment about centering, Im all for centering) Did you put your pivot bolt in opposite? (nut on brake side) If so why? just asking.....I was thinking of doing that because mine came out tight, had to thread it out thru collar about 3/4 inch inside, then it slid right out, when I put it thru other way, I had to thread it in, Ive worked with grease and now i can slide it. Anyway I was gonna put it back together like you, if im seeing it rite in pic.

ok im installing bearings, im obviously gonna take out innerbearing seal but im thinkin take outer out too because grease pressure will probably push it out anyway and we dont need that floating around in there ---correct?

I didn't take the outer on mine out. I don't think I would take it out. I realize there is a seal that goes in after the bearing, but having two seals there is important. If you ride in mud and water then definitely don't take it out. If you don't get too carried away pumping the grease it shouldn't push the outer one out.

I dunno...alot of pressure on that grease and there is a cavity between bearing seal n outer seal, dont get me wrong, i see your point w/double seal, but if the seal blows out whats the worse it would cause, prob nothing
