It has to be hooked up through the spark plug wire i think. Dennis kirk has 50 dollar digital tachs for single cylinder motors. The DYNA ignition i think would also be another way to hook up a tach because if im not wrong it has a plug in for it. But you cant use a dyna ignition because you have an 02, they fit 96-01 models only i think so looks like you are out of luck with that one. Its a good thing mine is an 01, i plan on buying once of those someday
