Yesterday while hitting the trails the war dog cut of twice after hit some puddles probably 5inches deep but I was blazing through them causing water to fly everywhere and on 2 occasions it cut off and start up after a few seconds . When I got back to safe grounds checked the lid and noticed some screws fell out which caused a slight opening check after filter and it did have some water on it (not soaking wet) also inside the air box had water maybe half inch of water. Is there any proper steps to take after taking in water ?? The war dog starts fine and runs good just want to make sure before next outing again

P.s lid will be fix before next outing

Just make sure the filter is good and clean, and also, clean the air box very well. There is a drain in the bottom of the box. Remove the cap and let it drain. Clean the cap and reinstall. That's about it if it is running well otherwise. Maybe install a new spark plug. It's cheap insurance.

Well usually what I'll do, if I'm playing in the mud of water.. I'll go around the quad with some silicone. Make sure your stator cover is well sealed. Check all your electrical connections, and rub some silicone over the ones that look like they could get moisture in them. Rubbing some dielectric grease on the top of the plug will pervent moisture that might get trapped between it, and the plug boot.
Then check to make sure no water can get in the carb.. Extend your bypass lines if necessary.. Clean, and add some silicone around the filter neck to the carb if you need. Or just make sure the clamp is good and tight.
Lastly your air box has a drain on it. Make sure it's not blocked buy anything? Water in your motor is no fun...

That should keep you running on rainy days.

Awe man.. You beat me to the punch on the airbox..

why the stator cover sealed??? if it needed to be water tight wouldnt it have an o-ring on it??? just askin...........

I found that they'll fill up with water, and leak past the inner seal when the motor is running.. I would say it's just better to keep water right outta there, it's not hard to seal it off..
