hey guys. my timing chain is slaping the exhaust side of the cylinder. how far into the motor do i have to go to replace that exhaust side slide? i looked at the manual and it was not that clear it looks like all i have to do is pull the head and jug off. i am not sure if that slide is something i can just slide in there verse the other is bolted it. thanks for the help.

those slides for the timing chain just pop into place and are held in by tabs on the bottom and the head on top, you will have to remove the head to replace them. Not a difficult job at all. You might also want to check the timing chain and sprockets for wear and stretching. Also make sure the auto-tensioner is working properly.

i am probaly giong to stick a new tensioner on it. do you have to pull the motor out to get the head off or can ya fish it without. thanks for the replys.

the engine does not have to come out. It can all be done with the engine in the bike, but your plastics & tank and such all have to be removed. Heres a pic from my piston / cam swap, as you can see there is more than enough room.
