I was avoiding this but i gess i better ask,, when i replaced my piston, rings and had the valves checked and put it back together i remember that the timming chain would always settle a hair before or or after the timming mark and it waas that way bfore it started to remove everything, not matter what i did when i set the T-mark at the bottum the top gear would always be just off from the mark on the head, so i gess the chains worn or stretched it this bad or will i be ok...

I dint no if its fully extended but i no it never lined up but i new i had TDC so i ran with it,, can i check the tensioner with the motor all back together??

with a brand new chain the timing marks will be dead on so your's is probably stretched at least half way if not more

if it runs then there is no need to replace it. untill it gets really badly stretched! if your tensioner is fully extended then replace it.

Ok,ok i gotcha,, sorry just somethings i dont no, not to bad for rebuilding it by a clymer book.. Ill pull the tensioner tomorrow when i get home and see how far out it was,,

here's what you do take the 12mm tensioner bolt out along with the spring then loosen the 2 8mm bolts holding the tensioner to the head, pull it out and see how far the tensioner shaft is out if its over half way it would be a good idea to get a new chain
and DON'T turn over the motor until you get the tensioner back installed or it will jump time and slap a valve

So i just checked the tensioner and its 3/4 of the way out, id say it has maybe 3/8 of and 1'' left!!! Now i can get the top of the chain off but how the hell can i get the bottum off to change it???

ya have to pull apart the engine. i think there is a guide somewhere on here

The actaul motor block, so if i remove the pullstart then the staitor cover and staitor its not just under that, hell im not pulling apart the engine block ill ride it till it blows...

no no you just pull the stator & cover side get a flywheel puller and pull the flywheel and the chain is right behind the that just line up the timing marks first before yo pull it apart on both the cam and flywheel then drop the chain down pull off and put the new chain on and assemble just make sure the timing key is still in the crank shaft when you slide the flywheel back on

took me about an hour to do both of my cam chains on my 2 warriors pretty easy

I did run mine till the tensioner only had less than a 1/8" left to come out lol

but time wise how long do you think it has till it gets to around an 1/8, an i havent gotten to ride his thing almost at all. do you think it can wait till the end of next summer..

and before you put the 12mm bolt and spring back in take a long screw driver and push the tensioner arm tight like 1 or 2 clicks to make sure the chain is tight so it don't jump time

If you have 3/8" left your fine, keep the oil changed and you should be good for a couple hundred hours! I'd let it be, set it close, and run it.
