hey i just bought a 05 rappy 350. well i have had it for a while. there was a ticking noise coming from the top end so i thought maybe the valves might need adjusted. so i did putting them at .06 for the intake and .16 for the exhaust. now it ticks louder. i checked the cam and it is good. what else could it be? im sure i adjusted them right. i put it at TDC an then adjusted them. it kinda back fires threw the carb. and the exhaust sometimes. but if i put the valves tighter then the tickin is not so loud. thanks alot. and plz dont bash me lol its my first qaud.

Are you sure you got TDC on the compression stroke? There should be a "T" mark in the flywheel that will line up with a mark in the engine case, you have to remove a little platic plug. You might also want to double check those valve clearances with your manual. Other than that I'm not too sure what it could be, the 350 engines have always been bad for valve-train noise so take that into consideration.

You will need to set the carb richer by the sound of it, you are running lean. The engine will sound very 'pingy' and will pop thru the air filter. Be sure the motor is warmed up for about 10 minutes and see if it still pops, if it still does you'll have to richen the air screw and also possibly richen the needle and main jet. Stock quads tend to come running just rich enough to run correctly, but in cooler weather they don't run for ****.

As for the valves, be sure you checked the lash after you fully torqued the locknuts down. It usually takes a while to get them right when they are tightened. Also be sure you didn't mix up the two specs with each other. Don't worry if it is a very quiet tick, these motors tend to make some valve noise.
