I'm trying to figure out if 4mm from the old timing mark is correct for the new timing with vitos key

4* is a very small about. I've used the Vito's key in the past, and it roughly moves the flywheel 1/32" (ish) counter clockwise on the crank. Instead of lining up the timing marks perfectly, try moving the timing mark on the flywheel about 1/32" past the mark on the stator cover.

Just use the actual timing mark on the gear behind the flywheel it's easier

No idea how to do that. I'm building a new engine and installing a vito key at same time. How can I set cam gear if I don't even know where tdc is on flywheel

take the vito key out? time it with the stock key then put it back in. then once your done and timed with the vito key you can line it up with the cam gear then make a mark on the flywheel.

Check the timing chain howto I made. I included install of vitos key. The mark is 7/8mm from right of orig tdc
