my brother in law just purchased a 97 warrior, and when getting on it hard shifting into 3rd gear it sounds and feels like it is going in and out of gear? could it be the gear, or shaft, or shifter fork? thanks!

It's not a drive sprocket on the engine or driven on the axle is it?
If it's not that then your going to have to tear into it.

I really doubt it is a sprocket because it only does this in 3rd gear. if you shift into 3rd at a slower pace and just ease the throttle, gradually increasing rpm's it doesn't do it. i'll see him tomorrow, and ride it some more. thanks!

Maybe the teeth on 3rd gear are worn out and they slip when you put too much torque to them.
