i just bought a 1996 warrior off of this kid two days ago, and I have been looking it over since and have found this issue. Please forgive me as I am uneducated on these bikes, thats why i am here. I was comparing the air intakes on this warrior versus my other warrior. There is a tube coming off of the left side of the engine that connects to the air intake (via 90 degree elbow) on my other bike that I am assuming is a vapor vent for the oil reservoir (?). On this new bike this tube is not connected to anything, as this bike has a k&n intake with no top cover underneath the seat, and on this setup there is no 90 elbow for this vent tube to connect. The reason I found this was not connected is when my wife went to ride this bike it was spewing gas out of this vent tube. I am very nervous of this situation and I'm wondering if anyone has any advice for me. Thanks in advance.

I believe you talking about the crankcase vent tube. As long as it's routed up out of the water, like under the gas tank your good. The reason the factory does route the hose in to the intake/air box is that for emission reasons and just the fact that it should be safe from water there.
Gas coming over the overflow tube of the carb means that the float needle has a piece of dirt on it or the float itself is damaged/cracked. Sometimes the float just gets stuck down and draining the gas from the float bowl cures the problem.

I wasn't very clear in the description but the crankcase vent is what i speak of. But the gas I said was spewing out was out of this crankcase vent (gas in the oil). I don't believe that this bike has been run for some time and I suspected that a carb problem may have resulted from sitting, but gas in the oil? I intend to go through the carb and change the oil but has anyone else ever experienced this.

If you have gas coming out of the crankcase vent tube then that is very bad. Don't run it any longer like that. Something is wrong with the choke or the float in your carb allowing the fuel to run into the intake with the bike sitting and fuel will then go past the rings and down into the oil.
Remember to always turn the gas off as well if your storing your bike. I work at a JD dealership and yes we get a lot of this with the gas turning bad so quickly and causing the float to stick. We tell all are customers to run stabu or sea foam.

I appreciate the help. I will change the oil and clean the carb, and I will be sure to shut off the gas. I am assuming it as been sitting for a long time prior to this. Thanks again.
