i got a 92 warrior that does not start. i can get it to crank by touching the two terminals on the solenoid but it will not fire. it seems that i need to check a fuse because it has no power with the main switch on, not even the lights, but i cannot find anything. where is the fuse located? i checked the yamaha parts website but i don't see the fuseholder like the one shown. anyone got any suggestions?

The fuse holder is a smaller AWG red wire that comes off the main + wire from the battery to the starter relay ("solenoid") with a rubber circular housing. You pull the two rubber halves apart to reveal a glass tube type fuse on the inside; it should be slipped onto a little bracket on the frame in the general area... If you don’t have one this may be your problem too!! lol.

*A cheap but beneficial upgrade would be to replace this holder with an in-line blade fuse holder (like car fuses); they cost about $5-8.00 after tax. The stock holder is known to suck ass and **** up so it’s the first thing I replaced.

yea i replaced it as well just make sure u wire it up good otherwise u will run in to more probs but i havent had any probs with the blade type yet alot more durable in my eyes

i see the little red wire coming off the battery cable. the little red wire does not plug into anything. so my next question is what does it plug into? there is a red wire with a white stripe that is about 8" away that has a female terminal like the one on the battery cable. i tried connecting these two together but it still doesn't do anything. how can i test the starter relay?

i used an automotive type relay and i managed to get it cranking with the switch. i don't have any spark. i checked the voltage going to the coil while cranking and it's zero. my next question is how can i test the ignition box?

Un-bolt the bitch and give the back a sniff lolol - it will smell like burned plastic. I would check the plug cap, wire, and after that stator pick-up coil/stator. If you are missing a in-line fuse I would start repairing that first though...

*You grounded the plug when u cranked her over right?

yup the plug was grounded when i turned her over. there is no voltage at the coil when cranking. i tested the orange wire at the coil and it read zero. it now has a new relay and inline fuse but still no spark.

test the stator.

You should probably pick up a Clymer manual if you don't already have one. If you have verified that the fuse is good you might want check your main switch(Key switch). If there is a problem with it would cause you not to have any power as well.
