I have a 1999 Yamaha warrior 350. I just recently put a new piston and rings in it. Everything went well and is running. But this part is the problem. It only runs right half choke.also after about 10 min. The header will turn cherry red! I have not started it since I've noticed the glowing pipe. What could be wrong? Pl
ease help?!

Did it sit for a long period? Did you clean the carb? Does it have fresh gas? Is the air filter good? Did you make sure that the intake manifold on the engine isn't cracked? Do you have any unmetered intake air leaks?

Glowing header would mean it's running on the lean side check all the things Gen1Pat said and if they all check out you need to go bigger on the pilot jet

It did sit for about 2 months before I got around to mess with it. I did put fresh gas in it as well as fresh oil. The air filter looked fine. I didn't see a crack but I did notice that I didn't put the gasket in between the head and the header could that cause any problems? Thanks everyone for replying fast. I'm trying to get it running at 110% before the snow gets here Tuesday

it would be loud as hell without the doughnut gasket between the header and head

Get the gasket in there. That could make it run on the lean side with that massive of an exhaust leak. You will probably bennifit from cleaning that carb. Even the smallest amount of gunk or varnish can make them run like dog ****.

It does sound a little louder than normal. I have a cobra exhaust on it. But ill check for blockage. If its running lean that's just tunning the Carb correct

How far back does the header glow? It is normal for them to get glowing red near the head and up to the bend. If it glows much past the bend then it can be an issue of being lean. If it won't run without having the choke partially on, then the pilot is probably plugged. You have to run a small wire through the pilot and pilot circuit to clean them. Just blowing them out will not cut it some times.

It only glows up to the bend. Ill pull the Carb off and clean it and put the gasket back in place between the head and header. Hopefully that will take care of the problem. This was my first top end rebuild so everything is new to me. Thanks again
