ok so my pick up coil went bad so we put a new one in. my dad said he had to cut the little rubber piece the holds the wires in and stop dirt and water from getting in bc he couldnt get the new wires in. i dont wanna ride it and get mud down in the and crankcase so any ideas? should i use a good rtv silicone or is there a piece i can buy... thanks

Just looked at the parts fiche. Yamaha doesn't have that groumet listed seperately. You'd have to try to find one used or get a whole stator assy. You can go the rtv route. I always use black rtv from versachem. We use it on intakes, gaskets, whatever requires or could use rtv, here in our shop. If your dad cut in right in half see if you can put the 2 pieces together around the wires and apply the rtv between and around them. Then put the groumet all rtv'd up in its slot and install the cover. Worth a shot.

Its more than worth a shot!!! It does work. My old red one I had to replace the pickup coil on and cut the grommet to get the wires in it(tryed sliding them in, doesnt work-to tight of a fit). Little rtv and it never leaked at all. For a matter of fact all RMstators grommets are pin holed for early double pickup coil stators, if you call them up they tell you to rtv it. I know because the stator in Jar-Jar is a RMstator and I did it to stop a little leak on a long riding weekend. Still has yet to leak

rtv is good stuff. Will seal almost anything. I really like the versachem brand. I throw the rtv supplied with some gasket kits out, because it never seems to work for long. But thats just preference.
