I put a new wiseco piston kit in about 10 hours ago with new valve seals also. It's standard bore. I ran a flex hone down through it to remove the glaze and everything. Everything was great till yesterday and it started to smoke blue. I did have the head back off the other day to change the valve springs so I reused the valve seals that I put in it when I rebuilt it. I did finally notice that the shitty stock air filter was not sealing against the air box and I have been in alot of dust so could it of been sucking in dust and damaged the rings? Or possibly when I changed the springs I could have a valve seal leaking now? Also what is the best grit of hone to use on these cylinders? My flex hone I think is a 320 grit. Is that too coarse? I ordered new valve seals and some new wiseco rings so I'm just going to redo it again but just wonder what could of happened. Sucking in dust from the filter not sealing or what? It's not smoking bad but bad enough it drives me crazy. Oh and I checked the bore to see if it was true and it was fine. If my hone is too coarse could it eat the rings up? Let me know what ya think. thanks guys

Dust will do it.
damnit! I didn't even notice that the seal on the filter wasn't even there. I seen it yesterday when I changed it over to a 400ex intake and uni filter. Any idea what the best grit to use to hone it?

No idea on the grit, but these engines hate dust. As you've experienced if your filter falls off or doesn't seal it usually is dun fucked up

Well I tore the engine down and the cylinder has alot of scuffing. I'm guessing it's from the dust. Could too much fuel from the squirt of the fcr carb cause the cylinder to wash down and do this?
I had already ordered a new set of rings for the wiseco piston but now won't be able to use it. The piston looks just fine though. Guess if anybody wants a low hr wiseco high compression piston and new rings hit me up. Mine is now going to a 366.
