I had 1998yamahawarrior make me up an oil cooler which should be coming in the mail within the week and i was just wondering if there's any other ways to cool the motor down. I'm just really nervous especially after this rebuild because when i was breaking the motor in it was mid 70's outside and within a few minutes i could feel the heat coming off the motor on my legs while i was riding. I saw cooling fins is one idea that's out there. Is there anything else that could help? I'm maybe going a little far but i really don't want to overheat the motor.

Also with the cooling fins how do they make the motor cool down more. It just seems like it would be the same as having air flowing by the motor. I haven't really seen one in person but i just can't grasp the idea that they are really giving a boost in cooling. It's one thing to have an air scoop on a car where there's a hood on it but the motor is open in the warrior's frame.

the air scoops direct the air more towards the head
another thing that helps is using a spal fan on the oil cooler itself to help cool the oil faster before it enters back into the motor
just make sure you use a water proof spal fan

and make sure your jetting in the carb is good because a lean running engine tends to run hot faster than an engine jetted perfect

I have a 150 main and a 45 pilot and when i did the plug chop it was perfect. When i tried the 147.5 like i was running before the rebuild it was a little white but not bad but when i went to a 152 it was wet and black. So i'm pretty sure the jetting is good. Where would i pick up one of those fans? Ebay?

you could try ebay
look up MidwayUSA on here If I remember right he installed one and he would have a better idea of where to get one that's weather proof

Alright thanks man for the idea. He definitely made that look super simple too. Definitely something I'm going to try.
