What are nerf bars for?

Stupid question perhaps but Im stupid when it comes to quads (never had one before) . I appreciate all who help me learn about my 06Rap350(white) and the stuff I need to set it up. This site rocks and is really helpin out this newb who doesnt know **** about this stuff. Thanks alot.

Nerf bars are designed to keep your feet on the quad and off the ground. While racing they also keep other quads out away from your feet and body and so you dont get tangled up and crash. My nerfs saved me from breaking my leg/ankle over the weekend. It also kept me from rolling over(long story lol)

They also look sexy and depending on the design allow you to angle your feet in a nice lean position to make your turns hard and fast.

Ya the only bad thing about some is that some(not all) cost quite a bit .

I got my tusks for 99 bucks, now they are like 110, or soemthing. For the cost they are pretty good i think. Very light a durable.
